Woodpecker Endo GT Pro Endo Motor & Apex Locator

The Woodpecker Endo GT Pro is a cordless endo motor with a built-in apex locator. It combines intelligent torque control, an open file library, multiple motion modes and real-time working length monitoring in one compact unit. Several of its features were inspired by endodontist Dr. Carlos A. Spironelli Ramos, DDS, MSc, PhD.

Key features at a glance

• TorqueSense™ real-time intelligent torque: you set only the speed. The motor learns the ideal torque for each part of the canal and switches to a safe reciprocating motion if torque is exceeded.
• ClearSignal™: a red, yellow and green dial shows apex locator signal strength in real time, so you know when a working length reading can be trusted.
• Two integrated apex locators: one in the base and one in the handpiece.
• Open, customizable file library: works with many file brands. Build-a-File™ lets you add files that aren't in the library.
• Custom file sequences: combine files from different brands into your own sequences for glide path, MB2, large canals and more.
• Open reciprocating mode: works with both left- and right-cutting files, with torque control in reciprocation. Angles adjust in 5° steps forward and reverse. Works with WaveOne^® Gold-type files such as GoldenOne.
• ATR (Automatic Torque Reverse) and T-Mode: T-Mode comes in three settings (T-Mode, T-Mode Plus and T-Mode α) and switches kinematics without removing the file from the canal.
• Speed range: 50 to 3,000 rpm.
• 6-inch HD touchscreen: glove-friendly and easy to read in any lighting, with a smartphone-style interface.
• Cordless handpiece: charges on a magnetic wireless dock, so it's always ready.
• Ultra-slim 8 mm contra-angle head: for better access to posterior teeth, with an adjustable LED light (≥8,000 lux) for shadow-free illumination.

TorqueSense™: real-time intelligent torque

With most endo motors you set two values, speed and torque, and the motor auto-reverses when it hits the torque limit. With TorqueSense you only set the speed and the reciprocation angles. The motor works out the ideal torque for you.

1. Learn (about 2 seconds): as you instrument, the motor measures how much resistance the file meets against the dentin wall.
2. Auto-set: it sets the ideal torque threshold for that part of the canal, based on the file's cutting surface.
3. Protect: if you push past the threshold, the file switches automatically to a safe right-cutting reciprocating motion. Ease off and it goes back to rotation.

What you see on screen: an orange bar shows the torque you're using right now, and a purple bar shows the threshold TorqueSense has set. An icon shows when the file switches between rotation and reciprocation, and you can feel the change in your hand.

Why it matters: different parts of the canal need different torque. In Dr. Ramos's demonstration, the motor set a torque of about 1.4 where the file met more resistance and about 0.9 in the apical third, where only the tip was cutting. TorqueSense adjusts in real time for each segment of the canal, which helps protect against torsional fatigue and file separation. You don't have to pre-set torque values for different files.

ClearSignal™: more reliable apex readings

Unstable or inconsistent electronic measurements can lead to inaccurate readings. ClearSignal shows the quality of the apex locator signal on a dial, so you know when a reading can be trusted:

• Red: weak signal. Readings may jump back and forth.
• Yellow: fair signal.
• Green: strong signal, for a stable working length reading.

If the dial shows red, tap the center of the dial for on-screen guidance. It reminds you to make sure the file is a large enough diameter to touch the dentin, the canal is filled with fluid (but not the pulp chamber), and the connections are good. Once the dial is green, advance the file slowly toward the apex for a stable reading to the foramen exit (0). Then set your rubber stop and determine your working length with your preferred technique.

The Endo GT Pro can run as a motor only, an apex locator only, or a motor with an integrated apex locator.

Build-a-File™ and custom file sequences

The Endo GT Pro lets you build your own files and sequences in a simple interface. Create a file from its tip size, taper, color code and other settings. Then build hybrid sequences that mix brands from the library with files you've created. You can save different sequences for different situations, such as glide path, MB2 or large canals.

Handpiece and contra-angle

The ultra-slim 8 mm contra-angle head improves access to posterior teeth. Its adjustable cold LED light (≥8,000 lux) gives shadow-free illumination.
