What is GBT (Guided Biofilm Therapy)?
Guided Biofilm Therapy is a minimally invasive hygiene protocol that uses air polishing with low-abrasive powders to remove biofilm and stain first, then uses ultrasonic scaling only where calculus remains. Woodpecker's ABC protocol (Assess, Biofilm removal, Clean) follows the same approach.
Do I need a combination unit for GBT-style workflows?
No. A combination unit like the PT-E or PT-B puts air polishing and ultrasonic scaling in one device. If your operatory already has an ultrasonic scaler, an air-polisher-only unit like the PT-B Mini or AP-A can handle the air polishing step.
Which powders work with Woodpecker desktop air polishers?
The PT-E, PT-B and PT-B Mini work with glycine and erythritol powders for subgingival and sensitive-area polishing and sodium bicarbonate for supragingival stain removal. The AP-A works with sodium bicarbonate and glycine powders, among others. Shop air polishing powders and accessories.
Can these air polishers be used around implants and orthodontic appliances?
Yes. Subgingival air polishing with low-abrasive powders is commonly used for implant maintenance and for cleaning around brackets and orthodontic appliances. Always follow your practice protocol and the manufacturer instructions.

Yes. Every PT-E, PT-B and PT-B Mini from GoldenDent includes support from our internal RDH technical team and access to a virtual training course with two free CE credits issued by GoldenDent.
