About the Product

Osteogen Plugs are a cost effective and clinically effective one-step bone graft. If you can place a collagen plug, you can immediately offer grafting in your practice.

OsteoGen Plugs are not collagen plugs that only act as wound dressing. The OsteoGen Plug bone grafting plug combines OsteoGen bioactive resorbable calcium apatite synthetic bone graft material with a bovine achilles tendon collagen matrix to create a structure that mimics the organic and inorganic components of physiologic bone.

Summary of Osteogen Plug Benefits:
  • The OsteoGen Bone Grafting Plug is the easiest and most affordable way to clinically deliver bone graft.
  • Ideal indication is following an atraumatic extraction when all walls are preserved.
  • No membrane required - Simply place into socket dry and suture in place.
  • Clinically proven to predictably grow ideal bone in preparation for dental implants.
  • Simple alternative to your typical allograft and membrane graft to repair a defect, where no risk of membrane dislodgement or particulate wash out.

OsteoGen® Plugs are a specialized, "all-in-one" solution designed specifically for socket preservation after an extraction. They combine a bone graft substitute with a collagen carrier, creating a product that is highly efficient for clinical use.

Here is why they are considered a top choice for dental professionals:

One-Step Delivery (No Membrane Required)

The biggest advantage for a dentist is the simplicity of the procedure. The "All-in-One"

Design: The OsteoGen® crystals are already integrated into a medical-grade bovine collagen matrix.

Efficiency: Unlike traditional grafting where you must pack loose granules and then struggle to drape a separate membrane over the top, the plug is simply placed into the socket. The collagen exterior acts as its own barrier, often eliminating the need for a separate membrane.

Superior Handling & Stability

Loose bone granules can be difficult to manage, often washing away or shifting if not perfectly contained.

Hydrophilic Properties: The plugs are highly absorbent. Once they contact blood in the socket, they expand slightly to create a snug, stable fit that won't wash out during the healing process.

No Mess: Because the graft material is contained within the plug, there is no risk of loose granules migrating into the soft tissue or being aspirated by the patient.

Bioactive Resorption Profile

OsteoGen® is a non-ceramic bioactive resorbable graft material.

Physiologic Healing: It resorbs at a rate that mimics the formation of new bone. It provides a scaffold that is replaced by the patient's own bone over time, rather than leaving behind non-resorbed "sand" that can interfere with future implant placement.

Radiopaque: The material is clearly visible on X-rays, allowing you to easily monitor the healing progress and bone density before moving to the implant phase.

Cost-Effectiveness

For a dental manufacturing or distribution perspective, these are a "value-add" product for several reasons:

Lower Overhead: Since a separate membrane and primary closure are often unnecessary, the cost per procedure is lower compared to traditional GBR (Guided Bone Regeneration).

Speed: It significantly reduces "chair time," which is one of the most valuable assets in a busy dental practice.

Summary for Clinical Use

OsteoGen® Plugs are ideal for dentists who want a predictable, fast, and less invasive way to preserve the alveolar ridge. They are particularly effective for "GP-friendly" extractions where the goal is to prepare the site for a future implant with minimal surgical complexity.
