The Foundation (1936–1971)
It all started when Dr. Milford Golden opened the first Golden Dental Centeron115 State Street in Downtown Detroit. His vision was simple: provide exceptional care to the local community. By 1971, that vision expanded when his son, Dr. Richard Golden, joined the practice. Dr. R. Golden was a pioneer in the industry, scaling Golden Dental Centers to over 20 dental offices—long before the concept of group practices became the industry standard we see today with DSO’s.
Innovation & The Physics Forceps (2007–2020)
After decades of seeing the challenges of traditional extractions, and patients presenting with root tips left by other dentists, Dr. Richard Golden sought a better way. In 2007, he designed and patented the Physics Forceps® atraumatic extraction system. This revolutionary instrumentation and technique transformed extractions, making them more efficient, predictable, and comfortable for both the dentist and the patient. The Physics Forceps and its techique are widely used globally by dental professionals for atraumatic extractions.
Dr. R. Golden officially retired in 2020 after a distinguished 49-year career in clinical dentistry. However, true to the spirit of the profession, he returned to work part-time in 2023—because, as we like to say, that is just what dentists do!
The Next Generation: Today & Beyond
Today, the family legacy continues through Jackie Golden, Dr. R. Golden’s daughter. As the third generation to lead the way, Jackie combines decades of inherited dental knowledge with a modern focusonmanufacturing, distribution and continuing education. Under her leadership, GoldenDent™ remains dedicated to providing innovative and unique dental products that clinically exceed expectations and help dental professionals provide better care every day.
