WaveOne Gold Alternatives: GoldenOne Reciprocating Files, Same Sizes and Technique

WaveOne Gold Alternatives: GoldenOne Reciprocating Files, Same Sizes and Technique - GoldenDent
How the WaveOne Gold single-file reciprocating technique works, and how GoldenOne files match its sizes, tapers and technique so you can lower your cost per case without retraining.

WaveOne® Gold made single-file reciprocating endodontics mainstream. If you already shape most canals with one reciprocating file, you don't need to change your technique to lower your cost per case. This guide covers how the WaveOne Gold system works and how GoldenOne Reciprocating Endo Files follow the same file sizes and the same technique.

How the WaveOne Gold system works

WaveOne Gold is a reciprocating NiTi system from Dentsply Sirona. Instead of rotating continuously, the file moves back and forth, which reduces torsional stress on the instrument. According to Dentsply Sirona, most cases are shaped with one glide path file followed by a single shaping file.

The system includes:

  • Glider: a reciprocating glide path file (tip 15).
  • Four shaping files: Small 20/.07, Primary 25/.07, Medium 35/.06 and Large 45/.05.
  • Lengths: 21, 25 and 31 mm.

The single-file reciprocating technique

  1. Access and scout. Create straight-line access and confirm patency with a small hand file.
  2. Glide path. Establish a reproducible glide path with a hand file or a reciprocating glide path file.
  3. Shape with one file. In most canals the Primary (25/.07) file is used in a slow in-and-out pecking motion with light pressure. Withdraw, clean the flutes, irrigate and recapitulate until you reach working length.
  4. Gauge and adjust. If the canal is very narrow, use the Small file. If the apical foramen is larger, step up to the Medium or Large file.
  5. Clean and obturate. Irrigate thoroughly, dry with matching paper points and obturate with matching gutta-percha cones.

Always follow the instructions for use for the files and motor you are using.

GoldenOne: a WaveOne Gold alternative with the same sizes and technique

GoldenOne Reciprocating Endo Files are designed to be comparable to WaveOne Gold single files. They use the same color-coded sizes and the same single-file reciprocating technique, so your team doesn't need to relearn anything.

Complete the system: matching paper points and gutta-percha

Matched points and cones make drying and obturation faster after you shape with GoldenOne:

Why practices switch

  • Same technique: no new protocol or retraining for your team.
  • Same sizes and lengths: Small, Primary, Medium and Large in 21, 25 and 31 mm.
  • Lower cost per case: you can save on every canal without changing how you work.
  • Runs on your Woodpecker motor: every Woodpecker endo motor we sell has a reciprocating mode.
  • Support from people who know endo: call or chat with our team about sizes, settings or switching.

Frequently asked questions

Is GoldenOne the same as WaveOne Gold?

No. GoldenOne is a different brand made for GoldenDent. It is designed to be comparable to WaveOne Gold in file sizes and tapers, and it is used with the same single-file reciprocating technique.

Can I use my current reciprocating motor settings?

If you already use WaveOne Gold, GoldenDent recommends using your current technique with the same speed and torque settings. New users should follow the settings on the GoldenOne product page and the instructions for use.

Which GoldenOne file should I start with?

As with WaveOne Gold, most canals are shaped with the Primary (red, 25/.07) file after a glide path. Use the Small file for very narrow canals, and the Medium or Large file for wider apical anatomy.

Which endo motors work with GoldenOne files?

All of the Woodpecker endo motors GoldenDent sells work with GoldenOne files and have a reciprocating mode.

Do you sell matching paper points and gutta-percha?

Yes. We carry length-marked paper points and injection-molded gutta-percha matched to GoldenOne and WaveOne Gold sizes.
